Feb 06 – Pathfinda installed at BAA Heathrow T1

After 18 months research, development and rigorous testing the Pathfinda that was originally designed for BAA was installed into Terminal One.

Heathrow Terminal One required automation of a manual alignment system prior to scanning equipment that has a narrow infeed, providing easy access for manual intervention to allow oversize cases to be extracted. We went about this challenge by prototyping different ideas to solve the problem involving our “supplier partners” to achieve a system that requires low maintenance and is easy to use, but giving consistent results. The result is the Pathfinda System which has a unique modular belt with angled rollers, along with especially designed functional software. The project engineer commented that they finally got a system that has been designed with low maintenance in mind, and can easily be adapted to solve a number of other issues / problems encountered in time sensitive environments, this will be a useful piece of equipment for many BAA operations.
